The IT industry is going through vast amounts of re-tooling to allow for the virtualization of capacity across server processing, storage and networks. Commonly referred to as the Software Defined Data Center (SDDC), the entire structure is essentially decoupled from its hardware foundations. By adopting the principles found in SDDC, the ability to make changes to the physical hardware assets becomes much less complicated.
